Koinonia Christian School Red Deer is a proud member of Koinonia Christian Schools, with a total of 8 schools.

history

Since 1983, KCS-RD has offered quality Christian education for Red Deer and area families.

Founding principal of the school, Mr. Vern Rand, started the school off at Woodlea Pentecostal Church in Red Deer. Since then, the school has grown to approximately 180 students and moved to a larger school.

Through the years, the spirit and integrity of the school has remained constant, in the areas of:

  • Providing a caring and compassionate extended school family to the students
  • Teaching respect and order to the children
  • Academic achievement
  • Building children's faith in Jesus
  • Spiritual enrichment
  • Developing self-esteem and confidence

academic programs

The school runs a full educational program for the following:

  • Playschool - 2 half days per week with separate classes for 3 and 4-year olds; certified teacher, aide, parental involvement
  • Kindergarten - 3 full days per week; certified teacher, aide, work experience students, parental involvement, pre-reading & numerical skills taught, centres, field trips
  • Elementary - grades 1-6; follow Alberta curriculum with Christian integration
  • Junior & Senior High - grades 7 and 8 and Senior High - grades 9 - 12; use Alberta curriculum with Biblical integration in all subjects

Unique to KCS-RD is the ability to provide Christian Education to all students, in one facility.

We wish to be a school for all the children in the family. We strive to live in Christian community within our school, where the students, staff and our families grow together.

spiritual training

KCS-RD maintains a continuing strong commitment to the Christ-like development of each child.

Spiritual training is accomplished through daily Bible classes, individual Christian counseling and mentoring with strong examples by teachers and staff.

Each morning, at KCS-RD:

  • Staff meet to pray for the children and activities of the day.
  • The principal leads the school in prayer.
  • Devotional sessions are held with students.
