THE HOT LUNCH PROGRAM:

For those of you who are new to the school, Koinonia serves a home-made nutritious Hot Lunch every Thursday in the classrooms. Menu items include Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Sloppy Hoes, Grilled Cheese, Soft Tacos, and Pizza. Drinks will be White Milk, Chocolate Milk, and Juice, in rotation. Desserts include, in part, Rice Krispie Squares, Brownies, Chocolate Crisps, Ginger Snaps, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Honey Oatmeal Cookies and Cupcakes. Great care and concern for serving healthy nutritious hot meals for your children has gone into this program. The cost of Hot Lunch for one main course, one dessert, and one drink each week is $3.00, except on Pizza Day. This is a real value for what you are receiving!

Monthly order forms:

Will be sent home attached to the Koinonia Korner once a month. Parents are responsible for monthly ordering at home, in conversation with their children, and the parents will then be responsible for getting the order forms and payments to the office before the deadline each month. The forms will be sent home in plenty of time for parents to fill them out and return them with exact payment to the office. Once these forms and payment have been received on or before the deadline, you can be assured that your children will receive what was ordered. There will be one monthly order form per family.

Please be aware that we cannot accept order forms past the deadline for that month. If the order forms and payment are not received on or before the deadline, your children WILL NOT receive Hot Lunch for the entire month in question. You will be able to again order as usual the following month.

HOT LUNCH WILL ONLY BE SERVED TO THE CLASSROOMS AND ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE ORDERED AND PAID IN ADVANCE via the monthly forms. No one will be allowed to purchase lunch from the kitchen.

You will be provided with the menu for the year in advance, as well as helper and baker schedules and all the baking recipes. Weekly reminders will be in the 'Hot Lunch News' posted in the Koinonia Korner each week. We strongly encourage each parent to make sure that they not only receive the Koinonia Korner each week from their children, but that they stay informed to catch notices and changes that will happen in the school schedule in addition to the weekly news. Some of these changes are last-minutes and some adjustment may be necessary from time to time. E-mail works great for this. If you wish to receive the Koinonia Korner electronically, please go to the school website at www.koinonia.ca and sign up to have the newsletter emailed to your inbox. If you decide that you do not want a paper copy of the Koinonia Korner, please let the office know.

Credit/ Refunds:

Unfortunately, this year there will not be a credit system in place if students are sick the day they are to receive Hot Lunch. Credits will only be issued in extenuating circumstances (i.e. school closure, student in hospital). If this new policy causes a great hardship on your family, please contact our office and speak with Mrs. Lamoureux. Credits due to these extenuating circumstances will be applied to your June 2011 Hot Lunch order. Please note that we cannot refund money if your child changes their mind after the orders are in and the meals cannot be returned for a refund.
