Meet the Staff
Below you will find our team members and a little biography about each of them.

School Principal
Mr. Gregg McNeil
Mr. Gregg McNeil joined Koinonia Christian School Red Deer Society as Executive Principal in August 2025. With nearly three decades of experience in education, he brings a deep passion for student success, faith-based learning, and servant leadership.
Gregg’s approach to leadership is rooted in relationship—he believes education should not only challenge students academically but also nurture their character, resilience, and faith. He values hands-on learning experiences that help students connect their faith to the real world, including outdoor education, service projects, and career-focused opportunities.
Gregg and his wife, Kristin, live in Sundre, Alberta, with their four teenagers. Their family is actively involved in their local church, serving in both ministry and mission work. An avid outdoorsman, Gregg enjoys spending time with his family in God’s creation and believes that learning extends far beyond the classroom.

Vice Principal/Music Teacher
Mr. Aaron Petersen
I graduated from Union College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in Secondary Vocal Techniques. In 2004, I started my career in St. Paul, Alberta teaching music and many other subjects at different levels, which included directing junior and senior high band. However, after 19 years, God has lead us here to KCSRD to start a new chapter in our lives.

My wife Kelsie and I have been married since the year 2000. During that time, God has gifted us with three boys; Matthew, Tyler and Colby. We enjoy spending our holiday time camping and visiting with our extended family.
We are looking forward to seeing the plans God has for us in the years ahead.
Music is worship. God is good.
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20

Humanities Teacher
Mr. Clint McLeod
I have been teaching at KCSRD for nine years, but my teaching journey started much earlier, with nine years in Ponoka before I transitioned to helping adults find work and purpose through career planning workshops.
Now, I spend my days with junior and senior high students, sparking curiosity, encouraging discussions about current events, and convincing teenagers that thinking independently is more fulfilling than following every passing fad. Outside the classroom.
I am owned by three miniature dachshunds—Bruno, Louis, and Coco—am fascinated by the latest inventions and AI curiosities, and marvel at how the James Webb telescope reveals the brilliance of God’s
creation.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Diane, and my children, Grady and Amica. It is exciting that Grady is an EA at Emmaus Learning Community. I love teaching in a Christian school, where every subject points back to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
This year, my goal is to help students discover their role in God’s story through their gifts, so they can serve others and follow the path God is calling them to.

Kindergarten Teacher
Miss Emilee Henry
Miss Henry is our Kindergarten Teacher, who loves walking with her two (2) dogs Bubba
and Bunny. She enjoys doing crafts and having so much fun in exploring adventures
and traveling different places with her sisters.
She has been in the teaching field for 10 years; 5 years in a previous school, 3 years in
a substitute position and this will be her third year at Koinonia.
She loves how curious children are. In Kindergarten, everything is new, and it is
exciting for them. She enjoys nurturing that sense of wonder and showing them, how
fun learning can be. Watering their light bulb moments is so rewarding.
Kindergarten is full of firsts. She looks forward to sharing those moments with her
students. She is excited to grow more as a teacher and learn from her precious
students for this year.

Grade 1-2 Teacher
Mrs. Ashley Norris
Mrs. Norris is our Campus Grade 1-2 Teacher, who loves exploring new places through
travels, trying out new recipes in the kitchen and living an active lifestyle with her family.
She has been a teacher for ten (10) years with the privilege of teaching seven (7) years oversees in England.
Teaching is her passion and what she enjoys most in this field is fostering an environment where students can push themselves and take pride in their accomplishments.
For this year, she is excited about meeting her students, witnessing their learning journey, being a part of the Koinonia Family and continuing to walk in the light of God.

Physical Education Teacher
Miss Ally Thompson
I’ve always had a love for sports. Growing up, I played softball, basketball, and badminton, and I still enjoy just about any sport today. Even as an adult, I continue to play on a softball team and join drop-in badminton whenever I can.
Outside of sports, I have a love for animals—especially horses. I spend a lot of time trail
riding and taking them into the mountains, soaking in the peace and beauty of God’s
creation.
I also try to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Whether it's camping, hiking, quadding, or kayaking, I enjoy being out in nature and taking in all that it has to offer. I
recently graduated from RDP, and this will be my first full year of teaching. Last school
year, I had the opportunity to teach at Koinonia on a two-month contract during May and June, which gave me a great introduction to the classroom and solidified my passion for education.
I've always been driven by the desire to leave things better than I found them. Teaching gives me the incredible opportunity to witness and support student growth—not just academically, but also in their faith, as well as their social and emotional development. As I step into my first full year of teaching, I'm looking forward to building relationships with students across all grade levels, fostering a love for physical activity, and encouraging teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
I’m especially eager to help shape the school’s athletic culture and create opportunities for students to grow not just as athletes, but as individuals. It’s a big year of learning and growth for me too, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute wherever I’m
needed.

Grade 3-4 Teacher
Mr. Justin Amthor
Mr. Amthor is our amazing and cheerful Campus grade 3-4 teacher and our Senior Art
teacher. He loves cooking and travelling around the continent with his wonderful wife.
Overall, he has been in the teaching field for 19 years. He has been with Koinonia Christian School for Fourteen (14) long and amazing years.
His heart is truly for teaching, and he loves it when a student’s confidence is boosted
and they have a new outline on learning and in life as a result.
He is looking forward to seeing his students grow in their faith; “taste and see that the
Lord is good”.

Grade 5-6 Teacher
Mrs. Jennifer Tycholaz
I have been involved in Koinonia Christian School Red Deer for many years as a former
student, parent and teacher. I began my career teaching Grade 4-6 at Slave Lake
Koinonia Christian School in the early 2000s. I moved back to Red Deer and KCSRD for
the 2005-2006 school year before going overseas with my husband to do a year long
short-term mission trip. I was blessed to be able to stay home with my children while
they were growing up, while staying active as a substitute teacher here at Koinonia. I
returned to the classroom full-time in 2022, teaching for two years with Emmaus
Learning Community before moving over to Grade 5/6 with KCSRD.
Outside of School, my husband and I are celebrating our 20 wedding anniversary this
year! We have four children between the ages of 12-17 and we love country life on our
acreage with our dogs, cats and chickens.
If there is a quiet moment, I can either be found at the piano, reading a good book, or
working on a puzzle or my garden depending on the season. I am excited about the
upcoming school year, and I am looking forward to all the incredible things that God is
going to do this year here at Koinonia!
