Teacher
Mrs. Moriah Boehm
Hello. I am Moriah Boehm and I live near Grande Prairie with my husband and our four kids. Wonderfully, I get to homeschool my children and also encourage other families through being a home ed support teacher for Koinonia. Homeschooling is certainly not always easy, but it compels me to be more dependent on God and gives me the gift of time with my children. Time spent instilling our Christian worldview, time spent allowing our children to mature at their own pace into who God designed them to be, time spent developing our shared family bonds, and time spent teaching them to think critically: all of these things are precious gifts homeschooling allows. I am privileged to be a Home Ed. support teacher, as I really enjoy helping others in their homeschooling journey.
As a past high school math teacher, my passion is still there for algebra... yes, it's true! As a mom, though, I have a passion to study the Bible, Christian apologetics and world history in order to equip my children and encourage others to be able to stand against the culture's illogical arguments that aren't based in reality. Thus, the verses that guide my work with my home ed families and my own kids are these:
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2)
"And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)

Teacher
Mrs. Joanna Luna
I have been teaching since 2008: English 8 in Mexico, Spanish 8-12 in Iowa, and too many subjects and ages to keep track of in Central Alberta, substitute teaching, many lovely and faith-inspiring days of which were spent at Koinonia. When I was asked to teach DL Spanish in 2018, it seemed the perfect position! I could care for my three daughters (now 8, 5 and 3 years old) at home and still work at the job I so love! In the last couple years I have also greatly enjoyed helping families as a Home Education Support Teacher, another position that fits into our family's lifestyle as our oldest begins her third year of homeschooling this year. While I was not home-schooled myself, the learning curve has been exciting as we learn and grow together as a family and school community. We have become convinced it is the best method of education for our children as we train them to grow in the Lord. In summer when we are not visiting our Mexican family in Iowa, I love to work in the garden and raise our goats and chickens. In the winter we love to skate, sled, ice-fish and work on crafting projects. We live in Lacombe County with our cat, goats and chickens.
Ephesians 4:11-13 - For it was he [Christ] who gave some to be... teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Teacher
Mrs. Pam Hahn
My name is Pam Hahn. Born and raised in southern Alberta, we moved our family to Slave Lake in 2004. Married in 1995, my husband and I raised three children while we chose for me to stay at home or work only part-time. I was introduced to the Koinonia family while I was homeschooling our children and was asked to sub for the principal at SLKCS. Later, I was asked to facilitate local homeschool families and I have continued intermittently in that role ever since. I stepped away from teaching in 2015 as God directed me to start supporting local families from the very beginning of their journeys. I have spent countless hours since 2016 in continuing education, reading, and researching to be able to support new families in all things birth related. My business is Natural Strength Birth Services and I trust God to balance my schedule throughout the year with families in both jobs which He has called me to serve. My passion and focus is on God's design of the family unit. I'm blessed to be back in the Koinonia family serving homeschool families again.

1 Samuel 12:24 - Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
Romans 12:4-8 - For just as we have many parts in one body and all the body’s parts do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another. However, since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them properly: if prophecy, in proportion to one’s faith; if service, in the act of serving; or the one who teaches, in the act of teaching; or the one who exhorts, in the work of exhortation; the one who gives, with generosity; the one who is in leadership, with diligence; the one who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
